From Scratch, Modern Tex-Mex

Taquero, and native Texan, Steven Martinez founded Basalt with a desire to bring breakfast tacos and Tex-Mex food culture to the state he fell in love with over a decade ago.

Basalt brings an elevated yet approachable brunch experience to West Michigan, combining the depth of flavor found in Tex-Mex cuisine with a focus on locally sourced ingredients, intentionally crafted food, and unbeatable hospitality that Michiganders are known for.

Founded in 2020, Basalt got started slinging breakfast tacos, tortas, and seasonal limeades at the Fulton Street Farmers Market. We are thrilled to have made our permanent home in the Eastown neighborhood of Grand Rapids in April of 2021 with a full, inclusive menu and options for dine-in, takeout, and delivery.
