Placing an Order

Contract, Invoice, & Payment

Upon finalization of details for your event, you will be sent a Catering Services Contract & Invoice to review. A signed contract is required to to move forward with our services for all event sizes. In most cases, a 30% deposit is required at the time of signing. You may choose to pay the remaining balance at the same time, or up to 7 days before the event. If you are placing your order less than 7 days from the due date, payment will be due in full imediately. We accept cash, credit & debit cards, and digital payment methods. Payment can be easily done online through the Invoicing platform.

Delivery

We offer delivery for most orders for a small fee. Our ability to offer delivery is dependent on the size, date, and time of the order, with a preferred maximum range of 50 miles. an increased distance may be possible at our discretion. please allow us a 15 minute delivery window.

Gratuity

All catering orders are subject to an 18% added gratuity.

Dietary Restrictions

we've worked hard to make our menu as inclusive as possible and we're proud to say that many of our menu items are naturally vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free, and most can be adjusted to accommodate your specific needs. while we take care to accommodate for allergies and other dietary needs, please note that we cannot 100% guarantee zero cross contact.

What If My Event Is Right Around The Corner?

Sometimes the unexpected happens, or time just gets away from us; we completely understand. Even if your event is happening way sooner than our proposed timeline for special events, please don’t hesitate to reach out! We’ll do everything we can to accommodate if possible.

Cancellations

Any cancellations made within 48 hours of your order date may be subject to a fee up to the full amount of the order. Please consult our Services Agreement for further details.

Plates, Napkins, Flatware

Fiber plates and/or bowls, compostable flatware, and paper napkins are available for purchase for your group. commercially compostable for easy cleanup and low environmental impact

Trays, Pans, Serving Utensils, Etc.

each order comes in an appropriate disposable serving container (aluminum pan, tray, pastry box, etc.). complimentary serving utensils are available by request. additional containers and utensils may be purchased - just let us know what you're looking for and we'll work out pricing for your specific needs

Disposable Chaffing Setups

each setup includes a wireframe stand, aluminum water pan, and 2 burners. best for buffet lines without staff. this set can be recycled or kept for reuse

What About China, Stainless Steel Utensils, Etc.?

We offer environmentally friendly, single-use items for purchase for all of our orders. If your event requires a little more polish, we are happy to help you arrange for any equipment or serving ware you need through a rental company. Please note that there may be an additional cost for this service.

Will You Cater An Event Outside of Grand Rapids?

Yes! But we make those decisions on a case-by-case basis. There are some items that we don’t feel comfortable allowing to travel long distances, so we’ll steer you towards alternatives in that situation. Please keep in mind our delivery fee.

Do You Cook On-Site, Or Is Food Prepared Ahead Of Time?

For the most part we prepare and cook everything ahead of time in our kitchen. If the venue allows however, we may utilize available equipment to prepare certain elements of the meal on-site and/or to-order. We also offer an on-site “food truck” experience with our mobile food trailer. Contact us to inquire about pricing.

Staff

we understand that every event has unique needs and challenges. in some circumstances we may be able to provide staff for buffet & family style services. if you would like for your event to be staffed by Basalt, please contact us to discuss rates & available services
